Matchday

Matchday at Farnborough

Everything players and parents need to know to enjoy the game — plus how our youngsters get to be part of Farnborough FC first-team days.

Before kick-off

How a matchday works

Your team manager will confirm the kick-off time and venue each week. Here's what a typical matchday looks like.

Arrive early — allow time to park, check in and get ready. Warm up — get your body moving, stay focused and prepare as a team. Play the game — play with passion, respect and enjoy every moment. After the whistle — thank the opposition, the officials and celebrate together.
Be prepared

What to bring

A quick checklist so every player turns up ready to play.

  • Full team kit — shirt, shorts and socks
  • Football boots and trainers/astros
  • Shin pads (required to play)
  • A named water bottle
  • Weather kit — a warm layer, waterproof or sun cream
  • Any medication (e.g. an inhaler) if needed
Families applauding from the sidelines. Respect on the sidelines: encourage positively, and respect players, coaches and officials.
For parents & spectators

Respect on the sidelines

Grassroots football is for the children. A positive, supportive touchline helps everyone enjoy the game — players, coaches, referees and other families.

  • Cheer, don't coach. Let the coaches coach and the players play. Your encouragement beats instruction from the sideline.
  • Respect the referee. Many officials are volunteers, and most of them are young themselves. Support their decisions.
  • Applaud both teams. Celebrate good play from anyone. Win or lose, we show respect to our opponents.
