Players of the Match — weekend of 17 October

One for the record books: a first-ever clean sweep of all three awards, a county cup shootout won by the U16 Girls' keeper, seven from seven for the U10 Blues and a first win of the season for the U15s.

Eleven players and one entire squad took home Player of the Match this weekend. Here’s how each team got on.

U10 Blues: seven from seven

Seven wins out of seven, and a comfortable passage into the next round of the cup. Every player gave everything from back to front, so Player of the Match went to the whole squad. Dom celebrated his birthday with a goal.

U12 Blues: a player short

The Blues played the entire first half a player down. Keegan dragged them through it with his work rate and decision-making, and scored their first goal.

U12 Reds: 6-1 against unbeaten opposition

The winning run goes on, this time against another side that hadn’t lost. Jack was immense at the back, reading the game and keeping the defensive line in order from start to finish. Blake took the parents’ award after scoring four.

U12 Yellows: 4-1

Sri won the manager’s award for a midfield display full of fine passing, with three assists. Freddie took the supporters’ vote in goal: top saves, excellent kicking and command of his box all game.

U14 Girls: a club first

For the first time, one player has won all three Player of the Match awards in a single game. Amelia took the coaches’, the opposition’s and the parents’ votes. In goal, she was switched on from the first whistle, came off her line with real authority and made a string of saves to keep the team solid. It was her best performance in a Boro shirt so far.

U15s: first win of the season

A big performance brought the first win of the campaign. James won the coaches’ award and Harley the parents’.

U16s: two wins

The U16 boys beat Rushmoor Rhinos 5-1. Finn, straight back from injury, earned Player of the Match on the right wing in a 2-1 win away from home.

U16 Girls: through on penalties

Flo, back up front after filling in deeper during an injury crisis, worked tirelessly all morning and looked to have won the county cup tie with a brilliantly taken goal. Then a free kick with the last kick of the match sent it to penalties. That’s where Ellie took over. She scored her own penalty and saved three of the five she faced to send the girls into the next round. It’s a second award in a row for Flo.

Well played, everyone.
